c.s. Lewis
Clive Staples Lewis was born November 29 th , 1898 in Ireland. When he was 4 he changes his name to Jacksie and refused to be called anything else! As a child, Jack’s best friend was his older brother Warnie. Jack and Warnie would spend their days exploring the woods and fields where they lived. Sometimes, they would hide in a wardrobe and make up fantasies about talking animals from other lands!
When Jack was 9, his mother was diagnosed with cancer. He prayed for God to heal her, and when she passed, Jack grew very angry at God and gave up on his faith.
Jack went to college after fighting in World War 1 and studied medieval and Renaissance literature. He published many books on poetry and became a renowned literary critic. As an adult, Jack got into many heated debates with other scholars, including Christian, J.R.R. Tolkien. These debates make Jack question his beliefs and by age 31, after decades if being athiest, he returned to being a devout Christian. In the 1950s, Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia which were immediately best sellers and are still touching the lives of children and adults today!
