 You can directly update the following information in
realtime at www.techdata.com
 Personal profile information
 Account information
 Shipping addresses
 You can now add, maintain and delete EC User
Accounts without depending on the EC Help Desk

New Features
 Master User and Admin User roles can now perform
the following user maintenance:
 Delete Non-EC users from the system view
 Remove the EC access rights from users, who will
thereafter have Non-EC access rights

What does EC User Administration mean?
 You can now provide access to www.techdata.com and
TDonline to individuals within your organization
 You can decide which access rights you want to assign
to which employees
 Admin rights (add, edit and delete EC User Accounts,
maintain passwords, etc.)
 Catalog view rights only (create and save quotes)
 Purchasing rights (create purchase orders)
 Track order status (order inquiry)
 You can make changes to the EC User Accounts and
easily maintain their access rights

Group ID/Group View Users
 Group ID is a generic ID & password that can be circulated
within your company and shared by multiple users
 When first-time users log in with the generic Group ID and
password, they are requested to convert themselves into

 Have unique IDs but share the same password
 Can only be created by logging in with the generic Group ID
and password

Administering EC User Accounts
You can select from a
variety of Views displayed
on the View Bar,
depending on the EC User
Group you want to
maintain.

Select
User Administration
from the Screen Bar.
Converting Non-EC Users to EC Users
Click
Non EC Users
from the View Bar.
Select the desired User
from the List Applet and
click on the
Make Admin User
arrow to convert into an
Admin User.
Select the desired
User from the List
Applet and click on
Make Account User
arrow to convert into
an Account User.
If the User you are looking for does not appear on this list
(remember to scroll all the way down first), you can create a
new user by clicking on the “New” button under the “Admin
User”, “Account User”, or “Group View User” Views

Deleting Non-EC Users from System Access
Delete this user
from system
access by
clicking on the
Delete ‘x’.

Determining User Type for existing EC Users
Click EC Users
from the View
Bar.
You can determine
the User Type of each
EC User by looking at
the “Contact Type”
column.
• M = Master User
• A = Admin User
• C = Account User/Group ID
• P = Group View User

Changing rights for existing EC Users
Select the
desired User
Type from the
View Bar.
Click on New to
create a new Admin
User who does not
appear in the
“Non EC Users” list.

Click on the Edit or
Make Non-EC
icons to change
User rights.
Creating a Group ID
Select the
Account Users/Group IDs
View from the View Bar.
Click on New to
create a new
Group ID.

Group Id
checkbox.

Obtaining the Group ID and Password
Once the Group ID and
password are created, you
need to make a note of
them so you can distribute
them to the group
members.

Logging in for the first time with the Group ID
Click on the
User Administration
link.
When Group View Users log in for the first
time with the generic Group ID and
password, they must click on the
EC Admin link on the Home Page of
www.techdata.com.
That will take them to this welcome screen.

Converting yourself to a Group View User
Find your name on
this list and click on
the “Make Group
View User” arrow.

Note your new ID and Password
Be sure to note your unique
Group View User ID
and generic password.
You will need these the next
time you log on to
www.techdata.com.
