Chapter 4
Cain & Abel
Live for God
Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.
In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of
the soil as an offering to the LORD. But Abel brought
fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock.
Life, attitute
Best portions, Christ
The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,
but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor.
So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.
(Gen 4:2-5)
By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain
did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man,
when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he
still speaks, even though he is dead. (Heb 11:4)

By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not
experience death; he could not be found, because God
had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was
commended as one who pleased God. (Heb 11:5)
Chapter 6
Fallen angels
the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful,
and they married any of them they chose.
Then the LORD
said,
"My13:33

years."
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-- and also
afterward-- when the sons of God went to the daughters of
men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old,
men of renown. (Gen 6:2-4)
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves
before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. (Job 1:6; NAS)
And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned
their own home -- these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting
chains for judgment on the great Day. (Jude 1:6)
The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the
earth had become, and that every inclination of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.
The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the
earth, and his heart was filled with pain. (Gen 6:5-6)
God told Noah to build an ark.
In Hebrew: means box; same word as the papyrus
“basket” in which baby Moses was placed.
In Greek: same word as the covenant “ark”.
Allegorically, it represents Christ.
Background: It had never rained on earth.
and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth
and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the
LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there
was no man to work the ground,
but streams came up from the earth and watered the
whole surface of the ground-- (Gen 2:5-6)
Being revealed by God, Noah believed in God’s word.
By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen,
in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith
he condemned the world and became heir of the
righteousness that comes by faith. (Heb 11:7)
