Tuesday
• Opening ceremony
Get pumped up and ready to go as you gather
with delegates from all across the country to kick off an
Awesome time in and around Washington, D.C.
• Swap Shop
A spin-off of the traditional 4-H Pin Trade,
Delegations will decorate clothes pins to
represent their home state or region as well as
bring items to swap with other delegates.
Wednesday
• Madame Tussads
Our leadership curriculum is taken to the next level as
delegates get up close and personal with our nations
most prominent [wax] figures.
• Nightview of Washington D.C.
Visit several Capitol City favorites and see them in a
whole new light, moonlight!
Thursday
• Speak Up! Speak Out!
Discover the power of your voice during this
interactive presentation that uses the works of
some of our nation’s greatest orators as inspiration
• MLK Memorial
Visit the newest memorial on the national mall that
pays honor to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his
dream for a loving and just nation.
Friday
• Udvar Hazy Air & Space Center
Get up close and personal with some of our
nation’s finest innovations as we explore
the relationship between creativity and
leadership
• Leader Quest
Put all of your newly acquired leadership skills to
the test as you and your team make your way
through this full immersion leadership challenge
• Banquet
Enjoy the program’s final dinner with your team
as presentations and recognitions from the week
are made
• Closing Ceremony
The program concludes as everyone comes together and
reflects on the lessons learned as well as looks to the
future they will shape at home in their clubs,
communities, our country and around the world
Delegate Expectations
• Full participation
– LWF is full of awesome learning and social
opportunities. We expect that every delegate
participate fully in all aspects of the program
• Respect
– During this once in a lifetime opportunity, delegates
will interact with people who may have different views
from them and visit some of our nation’s most sacred
sites. We expect all delegates to treat one another and
their surroundings with the utmost respect.
• Dress code
– During LWF we adhere to a dress code to insure that all
delegates accurately represent the prestige of their
delegation, 4-H and the LWF program.
Next to each event on the schedule you
will find a dress code key. This key tells
you what level of dress is most
appropriate for its corresponding event.
Casual (c)
Clothes you would normally wear. Jeans, tennis
shoes, t-shirt etc.
Very casual (vc)
Clothes you wouldn’t mind getting wet or dirty
Business casual (bc)
Clothes you would wear in a business/office setting;
dress slacks and collard shirt for men, same for ladies as
well as skirts, blouses, etc.
Dress(d)
Clothes you would wear to a nice restaurant or special
occasion. Very similar to business casual.
LWF
Your blue LWF shirt and khaki pants.
*LWF involves a lot of walking, make sure you bring comfortable
shoes
• Delegates should Read over and Fill out the following
before Arriving in Washington:
– Media Form- A release to allow 4-H to possibly publish pictures of you
on the National 4-H Website, Smile your Famous!
– Code of Conduct- So that youth understand what is expected of them
while visiting Washington D.C.
• Fully Participate in all Workshops, and Committee Meetings at CWF
• Be respectful to all Memorials and sites visited during the trip.
• Overview of CWF Dress Code so you can pack appropriately.
Delegate Rooms
Delegates to LWF will be provided with
Hotel like Accommodations, including
two Bunk Beds per room, private
restroom facilities, and a TV in every
room.
Always a popular, the game room in
J.C. Penny Hall, complete with Pool
Tables, Air Hockey Tables, and Arcade
Games.
Chef Zubear will prepare some of the Finest
cuisine in the D.C. Metropolitan Area for
delegates to enjoy in the Clover Café, a
cafeteria like setting with full service food
bar, salad bar, and soup.
