• Subject to flooding: over 7,500 families, numerous public
facilities, and over 800 businesses
• Most important infrastructure and port facilities of the San Juan
Metropolitan area
• Average flood damages estimated: $60 million
(100-year flood event damages are estimated
over $175 million)
• Will provide 100-year level of protection to the largest
metropolitan area in Puerto Rico
