The mission of the JRC
•
Providing a customer-driven scientific and technical support for the
conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU
policies.
•
Being a reference centre of science and technology for the Union
as a service of the European Commission.
•
Serving the common interest of the Member States, while being
independent of special interests, whether private or national.

Water ACE : The framework
Framework will be based around 3 Big Axes or Land Marks of the Water – ACE
AXE 1 Supporting the development of regional networks
• Optimising competences and knowledge sharing in the frame of an open network
(southern and West Africa)
• The network should address governance and policy issues:
=> being a technical and scientific adviser e.g in SWAPs, to AMCOW -TAC
AXE 2 Guidelines, Data and Policy Dissemination
• Information dissemination at Regional BUT also at Continental level
• EC Contribution: EU Guidelines for Water Management that should become
“a base for the African Water Guidelines”
• EC - ESA Contribution: TIGER = Support through Call for Proposals –
Capacity Building, Data, Software
AXE 3 Water Knowledge Management Building
• The objective is to Build and Valorise the African Water Knowledge

Virtual Communication, Knowledge Management and Training on-line.
