The WATER ACE Project •To support the African Centres of Excellence in Water © European Communities, 2007 •To foster integrated resources management and intergovernmental / interinstitutional cooperation in the Water Sector in Africa Contact person : [email protected] WATER – ACE Project Science and Technology services for Supporting Water Management Policies in Developing Countries Water ACE : The framework Framework will be based around 3 Big Axes or Land Marks of the Water – ACE AXE 1 Supporting the development of regional networks • Optimising competences and knowledge sharing in the frame of an open network (southern and West Africa) • The network should address governance and policy issues: => being a technical and scientific adviser e.g in SWAPs, to AMCOW -TAC AXE 2 Guidelines, Data and Policy Dissemination • Information dissemination at Regional BUT also at Continental level • EC Contribution: EU Guidelines for Water Management that should become “a base for the African Water Guidelines” • EC - ESA Contribution: TIGER = Support through Call for Proposals – Capacity Building, Data, Software AXE 3 Water Knowledge Management Building • The objective is to Build and Valorise the African Water Knowledge © European Communities, 2007 • EC Contribution: AQUAKNOW Platform = Web-based information system for Virtual Communication, Knowledge Management and Training on-line. www.aquaknow.net WATER – ACE Project Science and Technology services for Supporting Water Management Policies in Developing Countries Water ACE : The framework • How?
