Vessel Log
• A clear and accurate log will be kept by the
crew.
• This will include all relevant vessel position
and waypoint information.
• It will include all relevant training or
operations information
• It will list all the times, meteorological
information, and events.

Vessel Log
• A rough log can be kept.
• This rough log is to be completed in ink, so
that it cannot be changed.
• The information from the rough log will be
transferred to the Vessel Log also in ink.
• Records will be kept and stored as legal
documents; terms and language in the logs
will professional and brief.

Instructions for Filling Log 1
• Incident numbers shall be obtained from
JRCC/ MRSC upon tasking, during or on
completion of an authorized SAR mission and
dated.
• All times will be local times and inserted in the
left hand columns provided.
• Auxiliary crew manning the vessel shall be
listed.

• All non-auxiliary passengers on the vessel
during a SAR mission shall be listed.
• Other search and rescue resources (coast
guard / helicopters / hovercraft, other auxiliary
vessels or owner /operators) involved shall be
entered when appropriate.
• All radio messages pertinent to the SAR
mission shall be logged

CCGA-P Requirements
• Enter into the SAR Management System
within 30 days or payment will be forfeited.
• Remember to authorize after submitting the
report on line.

Vessel Log Protocols
• Coxswain responsible to ensure log book is
available.
• All sections are to be filled out legibly.
• Tasking number is recorded
• All entries in ink.
• Never erase, - a single line through the error,
initialed, and then correct information added.
• Note engine hours

Legalities
• In the event that legal proceedings arise from
a tasking or training exercise, the log entries
will become admissible in court.
• All logs have to be safely stored by the station
for 7 years.
