MDA is defined as:

associated with the global maritime
environment that could impact the security,
safety, economy, or environment of the United
states.”

Objective:
To enlist the boating public, and the supporting
industries, to become the eyes and ears of the
Coast Guard in identifying and reporting unusual
maritime activity.
The Auxiliary manages the recreational boating
segment and assists in the commercial segment.
Maritime Transportation
Security Act
Auxiliary supports the vessel inspection
provisions in response to requests from
Captain of the Port.
Could broaden as other provisions are
addressed.
Coast Guard provides training.
Auxiliary Personnel
Augmentation List (AUXPAL)
Provides trained personnel to fill Coast
Guard Billets.
Responsive to all MARSEC levels.
Auxiliary target recruits to fill needed
personnel gaps in both the Auxiliary and
the Coast Guard.
