In the last Budget, the Australian Government introduced a new ‘Single
Business Service’ to make it easier for businesses of all sizes access
government information, services and programmes
•
The Single Business Service
is made up of:
o An improved online presence

o An expert face-to-face national
business facilitation network - AusIndustry
Entrepreneurs’ Infrastructure Programme (EIP)
$484.2m to help Australian businesses to Innovate and Grow
•
EIP is a flagship initiative for business competitiveness
and productivity at the firm level
•
Services & grants are available via 3 elements:
o Business Management
o Research Connections
o Accelerating Commercialisation
Innovation and R&D
R&D Tax Incentive Programme
•
The Australian Government’s main programme to encourage business
investment in R&D (especially SMEs)
•
Broad based, market driven entitlement programme
•
Two Components:
o 45% refundable tax offset (150% if an aggregated turnover under $20m)
o 40% non-refundable tax offset (133% if turnover over $20m)
The Growth Fund
$155m Growth Fund
•
Supports employees, businesses and regions affected by the closure of
Australia’s car manufacturers
•
Part of Government’s Industry Innovation and Competitiveness Agenda
•
Elements include:
o $20m Automotive Diversification Programme
o $60m Next Generation Manufacturing
Investment Programme
o $30m Regional Infrastructure
Programme
Linking Business, Researchers & the Community
Cooperative Research Centres Programme
• CRCs help commercialise leading edge research from Universities
• 35 current CRCs
• Australian Government has
committed over $4bil to CRCs
• Industry and research partners
have contributed over $12bil

Training and Mentoring For Businesses
$476m Industry Skills Fund
The $476mil Industry Skills Fund – Growth Stream will:
• Provide up to 200,000 training places and support services, including literacy
and numeracy and mentoring over 4 years
• Support SMEs (inc micros) to diversify and improve competiveness
• ISF will support firms building a highly skilled workforce via access to
innovative / RTO delivered training (co-contribution model)

o Training Grants

from Customs duty
(5%) & GST (10%)
Cash flow benefit
Imported goods

modified form; OR
used as inputs into
the manufacture
