Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP)

Based on Act of 9 November 2000,

governmental agency

reporting to the Ministry of Economy.

Main objectives:

 enterprise development  implementation of new technologies  export development  creation of new jobs as a solution to unemployment  human resources development  regional development

Structure:

 supervisory Board  CEO, Deputy to CEO (3)  2011 budget: 1,450 m EUR  no of beneficiaries: 12 thous.

 24 Units  over 500 employees.

In the financial perspective 2007-2013, PARP is involved in implementation of 7.2 bn EUR worth of

projects (8.4% of total NSRF budget) within three OPs:

OP Innovative Economy (EUR 3.9 bn), OP Human Capital (EUR 672 m) and OP Eastern Poland Development (EUR 2.6 bn).

Creating favourable conditions for sustainable development of the Polish economy through support for enterprises’ innovativeness and internationalisation, as well as promotion of sustainable production and consumption patterns.

INNOVATIVE ADMINISTRATION FOR INNOVATIVE ENTERPRISES

Supporting SMEs international activity

 Export Passport for SMEs;  Trainings and seminars for exporters;  Match-making (business cooperation database);  Business missions, trade fairs, Internet fairs, match-making events;  Information and consulting services within Enterprise Europe Network;  Publications (guides to foreign markets, Euro Info Bulletin) and websites;  Cooperation with foreign business support organisations.

Measure 6.1 Passport to export 1/2

 The measure’s objectives is to:  increase the level of export in relation to entire sales,  intensify relations with foreign partners,  increase the level of recognisability of commercial and corporate brands on foreign markets,  Applicants: micro, small and medium-sized enterprises  The measure’s budget: 121 840 000 Euro  So far 2 863 agreements signed at the amount of 26 402 000 EUR

Measure 6.1 Passport to export 2/2

 Financed activities: • Participation in foreign trade events, • Participation in business missions organised abroad, • Search and selection of business partners in the target markets, • Obtaining the necessary documents to authorise the introduction of the goods and services in the chosen foreign markets, • Consultancy services in the area of the strategy export activities and development of company’s image on foreign markets

Plans for supporting Polish SMEs on US market

Polish Technology Bridges concept, addressed to Polish SMEs interested in establishing business contacts with american business partners,  US-Poland Business Summit - a major international trade and investment event, 20 June 2012, Warsaw, • Signing MoU between PARP and U.S. SBA during the Summit to establish a practical framework for the development of stronger relations between the two institutions,  Organisation of business missions of Polish SMEs for the following events: • Gartner Syposium / ITxpo, Orlando, 21-25 October 2012, • Nanotech Conference&Expo, 2013.

In 2012, PARP focuses on stimulating effective management among enterprises and business institutions

Long term planning, strategic sources of information

10% of SMEs have a strategy in a written form micro companies make decisions based on intuition (13% are interested in having a strategy in a written form) Research show that in about 1/3 cases entrepreneurs establishing contacts with external institutions to obtain necessary information declare that they failed to obtain

such information.
