PNPN represented by
P.Napiórkowski, A.Maj, R.Broda
Within the programme:
A.Maj presented the initial scheme of the project to built the high energy
gamma calorimeter suggested as new original JRA for the FP7
R.Broda presented the scheme of the questionnaire for gathering
information needed to compose the Report 1 of EWON (after discussion the
general scheme was accepted)
The idea of entering the FP7 with the Distributed Large Scale Facility
project was presented and discussed.
As continuation of this discussion the most recent EWON meeting was held
in Warsaw on 26/27 January 2007

Report No. 1:
WORKING GROUPS
“Research activities of Southeast
and Northeast European Nuclear
Physics Groups at Large Scale
Facilities of Europe:
Status and Future Possibilities”.
Report No. 2
MEMBER INSTITUTIONS
“A Mapping Study of Nuclear Science
and Technology in the Southeast
and the Northeast European
Countries: Present and Future”.
Questionnaire for the preparation
of the EURONS East-West-Outreach Network Activity (EWON) Report
on:
“Research Activities of Southeast and Northeast European Nuclear Physics
Groups at the European Large Scale Facilities: Status and Future Possibilities”
I. General remarks
The Report should give the summary of the past and present
involvement of nuclear physics groups from SEEN and NEEN countries in
research activities performed at the European LSF’s with the aim to conclude
about the future perspectives and possible improvements.
The present questionnaire includes general questions to be directed to
all nuclear physics groups from SEEN and NEEN countries collaborating with
various LSF’s.
The distribution of this questionnaire in each country is the responsibility of
local EWON coordinators who should take care for efficient flow of the
requested information to physicists selected for the preparation of the summary
of research activity at given LSF (the list is given in the Appendix 1).
II. Questionnaire:
I
1. Information about the research group:
Give the name of your institute, city and country, the list of group members (with
titles) with possible indication of the group leader and specify in one line the
general area of investigation.
2. If your group has any previous (before 1996) history of research in
collaboration with the laboratory (present LSF) describe it briefly not exceeding
one third of a page.
3. Summarize the physics of the research activity of your group at the given LSF
from 1996 – no more than half of a page. Indicate the role of your group
(initiating projects or participation in projects led by others)
4. Name the experimental facilities you are using at the given LSF
5. Give as detailed as possible statistical information preferably ordered in
three periods years 1996-2000, 2001-2005 and after 2005
a) number of publications and conference presentations resulting
from your group research activity at a given LSF
b) number of experiments performed, rough estimate of a total
amount of beam time, total duration of visits and number of
participants
c) number of PhD degrees obtained in your group and based on
research at the given LSF
6. Describe your group participation in the R&D activity – participation in
the Joint Research Activities or in any other activity improving the
LSFs infrastructure, as well as gains of your institute from LSFs in
improving own laboratories infrastructure.
7. Give any additional information that may be relevant for the Report eg.
on:
Education – participation in trainings and courses within LSFs
(as students or lecturers)
Extended stays (over 1 year) of EWON physicists in LSFs,
including permanent employment of physicists from
NEEN/SEEN countries
Involvement in Committees –e.g. PAC, USP
8. Outline the most important achievements of your group research at the
given LSF. If you think any of them should be included in the Report
as example illustrating physics performed by EWON groups at various
LSF’s, prepare its brief, one page, description. These suggestions
coming from research groups involved will be considered at the spring
2007 EWON meeting.
9. Express freely your opinion on the present organization of the research
collaboration within LSF and give your suggestions for possible
improvements.
Important remark
Since the report will also include the brief outline of the research
performed by the NEEN/SEEN groups in other European laboratories and
outside Europe, the groups which are involved in such activity are kindly
requested to provide the brief information relevant to make the summary
of this activity.

Part summarizing this activity will be the task of Editorial Board
Next EWON meeting will be held in Prague
Tentative date 10-12 May 2007
Predicted number of participants –about 50
Two days will be devoted for presentation of results obtained
in collaboration of EWON research groups with LSF
laboratories. Some of these results will then be selected as physics
highlights illustrating the appropriate section of the Report.
