– Scenario was developed iteratively by a collaborating multi-organization group
– Used the ESIP wiki and telecons to develop consensus
– Addresses AQ Community of Practice
The Need
– Air pollution is a serious global public health problem
– Air pollution is influenced by processes on local, regional, intercontinental, and
global scales
– To better understand, forecast, and manage air pollution:
• Need to gather, integrate various observations, models, and activities
The Actors
– Broad, diverse group of providers and users
– Underlying data, services, tool needs for users all interconnected
Scenario to Focus on:
– Real-Time Large-Scale Event Analysis
– Assessment of International and Intercontinental Transport of Air Pollution
– Assimilation of Observations for Air Quality Forecasting (Analysis & Modeling)
– Provision of Relevant Information to the Health Community & the Public
Air Quality & Health Scenario – Next Steps
• Revisit OGC and ESIP wiki based on feedback from
the ADC workshop
• Identify other users (outside GEO) to get
input/feedback from known community of practice
• Solicit feedback from broader air quality community
• Coordinate with UIC to finalize scenario
