“Butterfingers!” Yell the muscular serious kangaroos at the emus while they
play football. They continue calling the emus names but the emus are angry.
One tough, fit Emu, Jerry comes towards the cowardly, not so tough leader of
the Kangaroos sharp, dangerous teeth as sharp as rocks clenched hard and he
kicks him right in the face! “That’s it!” Yells a Kangaroo, “We’re playing a real
match! Tomorrow, 5 O’clock.” “Bring it on!” Say the Emus, red faced.
In a small, nearly empty town in north-west NSW the powerful athletic emus and the muscular,
swift, tall mob of kangaroos are having a rivalry about who is better at footy, while the referee,
the wimpy whistler duck who is as scared as a chook tries to stop them. They then decide to
have a real football match. But it gets really rough.
“Go….”, says the wimpy duck in a monotone voice. The game starts, an emu grabs the ball in his
beak and runs for the try line. But suddenly a kangaroo spear tackles the emu and drops him on
his head. But the emu continues crawling toward the try line with the ball in his beak. He just
makes it past when a kangaroo jumps on him. “No try….” says the wimpy duck in a quiet
monotone voice. The crowd starts roaring with boo’s. The emus face expression suddenly
changes and he upper cuts the kangaroos mouth with his foot. It was enough to cut his tongue
off if the tongue was in the middle of his teeth.
PUNCH! BAM! POW! “OW!” Yells a kangaroo painfully. There’s a big punch-up happening, the
duck starts whistling madly, the crowd gasp. All you can see is a big puffball of smoke when you
look at them. Then they all turn to the referee, the wimpy duck. His face starts sweating madly.
An emu swears he can smell something bad. The duck runs up the tree and hides. Then they
continue the match, even though there are bloody noses and busted lips (and beaks). The emus
score a try. The duck blows the whistle in his hiding place. “T-t-t-try”, he says terrified.
“Grrrr! Stupid duck!” yells a kangaroo ferociously. The score is 11-10, the emus are winning by 1
point. But the kangaroos have a big advantage, the try line is wide open. The emus just realise
their mistake! They form a big line to block the kangaroo from getting a try. The kangaroo kicks,
the emus jump and… and… the time is up, “NO TRY!” screams the duck from the airplane
window towards the stadium. The emus hear the faint “No try” from the Duck. They cheer and
cheer. But the kangaroos sob and sob.
