 My background
 I grew up in Rock Island, Illinois
 Getting married October 11th- new last name will
be Young
 I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees
from Illinois State University.
 My teaching experience
 I served as a substitute teacher my first year out
of college.
 I taught third grade for five years
 Third year teaching fifth grade

 Our classroom is a learning community. In
our community, we establish ground rules
together to help us learn and grow
throughout the school year.
 Our class rules begin with, but are not limited
to:





Follow directions the first time they are given
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself at all times
Speak kindly
Try your best/hardest
Have fun!
Discipline
 When a classroom ground rule or Banner Core
Value is broken, the following steps will be
taken:
 Green: Verbal Warning
 Yellow: Lose 10 minutes of recess
 Red: Lose all of recess and complete a think sheet
 Students will keep track of their behavior in their
assignment notebook daily by coloring how they
did each day, along with a note for why they
flipped their card.
 Students who received a red will bring home a
think sheet for you to sign.
Birthdays
 Throughout the school year we will recognize
birthdays and half birthdays.
 If you wish to send a treat, please make sure
you have 30 treats.
 Treats must be individually wrapped store
bought treats with the ingredient label on
the packaging.
