Academic Planning for
Middle School Students
SO…why should you do your
best in Middle School??
• Your progress/grades in 8th
grade will determine which
classes you take next year, and
middle school sets the
foundation for high school.
For Example……

grade teacher recommendation
– Honors Math II—A in Math I + recommendation
• Biology/Biology H--Concurrent enrollment in
Math II in 9th grade
• Foreign language—A or B in 8th grade
English or recommendation
• Honors English—A + recommendation + high
test scores + summer reading

Once you are on it, you are always on it
because if your grades are below 2.0
anytime after that, you are ineligible until the
next quarter.
It’s good to think about your
future…………..

lower unemployment rates
Learn from your experiences
• If you make mistakes, learn from them,
the most successful people do…
• Making the same mistake over and over is
not the way to success…
• Find a way to deal with situations when
they don’t go your way
