It is located about 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) north of Jerusalem. Birzeit's mountains are covered with olive trees and the campus has been landscaped to take advantage of the lovely views from its high hills. Birzeit University offers 46 Bachelor’s and 24 Master’s programs An Interdisciplinary PhD program in Social Sciences has been recently accredited by the Palestinian Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission. Academic Biography The number of students has been increasing steadily, from 329 students in 1972 to around 10,000 in 2012 enrolled in 9 faculties Despite this rapid growth, the Student/ Teacher ratio has been maintained at 20-1, an important indicator of academic standards.
