Polymers Can Behave Like Insulators, Semiconductors
and Metals -- As Well as Semimetals
Polymers can behave like insulators, semiconductors and metals -- as well as
semimetals. Twenty researchers, under the leadership of Xavier Crispin, Docent
in organic electronics at Linköping University, are behind the breakthrough
published inNature Materials.
Traditional plastics, or polymers, are electrical insulators. In the seventies a new
class of polymers that conduct electricity like semiconductors and metals was
discovered by Alan J.Heeger, Alan G. MacDiarmid and Hideki Shirakawa. This
was the motivation for their Nobel Prize in Chemistry year 2000. Now Xavier
Crispin, Docent in organic electronics at Linköping University's Department of
Science and Technology, has led a project where no fewer than twenty
researchers from five universities worldwide have collaborated to prove that
polymers can also be semimetals.
The results are published in an article in the journal Nature Materials, with Dr
Crispin as principal author.
"Our experiments yielded a high thermoelectric effect, a Seebeck effect, which
indicated that we were dealing with semimetals. But we needed proof," says Dr
Crispin.
Thermoelectric generators are available on the market today, but these are
made from alloys of bismuth and the semimetal tellurium. Unlike the polymers,
these elements are both rare and expensive.
"These polymers are both easy and inexpensive to produce. That we now have
an understanding of these phenomena will really drive developments forward,
and will open up a new research field in organic electronics," says Prof
Berggren.
The research was financed primarily by ERC, the European Research Council. In
2012 Dr Crispin was awarded an ERC Starting Grant of SEK 13 million.

Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman,
(7 November 1888 – 21 November
1970) was an Indian physicist whose
ground breaking work in the field of
light scattering earned him the 1930
Nobel Prize for Physics. He discovered
that, when light traverses a
transparent material, some of the
deflected light changes in wavelength.
This phenomenon is now called
Raman scattering and is the result of
the Raman effect. In 1954, he was
honored with the highest civilian
award in India, the Bharat Ratna.
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman
Honors and awards
Raman was honored with a large number of honorary
doctorates and memberships of scientific societies.
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society early in his
career (1924) and knighted in 1929.

Technology
Technology- the word when strikes to our mind make us feel proud and reminds
us all the luxuries we have because of Technology. This single word has just
changed our lives to a large extent. It brings us lots of luxuries and gadgets that
entertain us. Indeed the main difference created between the 19th century and
21st century is just because of Technology.
Basically Technology is the study of any art; as techno means-'any art' and logy
means- 'to study'. The word Technology comes from a Greek word
''Technologia''.For science students this is an interesting and attractive word.
Many courses are available now-a-days to learn about Technology likeB.Tech.(Bachelor of Technology), M.Tech.(Master of Technology) etc. Concepts of
science must be clear to understand this vast and interesting topic. Students who
want to remain in touch with science and who are interested in doing research in
any field, generally join technology based courses. By the mid of 20th century we
had achieved a mastery of technology, enough to leave earth and explore space.
It brings us so many changes and makes our lives so easy. For every small work
technology has given us gadgets or machines.
In today's modern materialistic world machines do our most of the works easily
and in seconds. In old days, it took too many hours to complete house-hold
works but now it has become so easy, machines like-washing machine, mixer,
grinder, etc. all has changed our life-style. Now we can cross miles of distance in
few seconds indeed!!The mobile phones are also due to technology that can be
seen in hands of every youngster or old-aged person. Internet facility helps to
remain in touch with our relatives and dear ones sitting miles away from us, it’s
amazing obviously!! Almost every day new models of cars launched, this is
technology! Starting from the small needle to the aero-planes, satellites,
technology can be seen every where. But as everything has its good and bad
points, here are also some negative points related to technology. As machines do
all of our works, but did you ever think over it that we are

VOL # 3
becoming slaves to the machines? This is like- technology makes machines
which acts like men and produces men who acts like machines. The
production of too many useful things results in too many useless people.
We are totally dependent on them for almost of our every work!! As no
physical power is needed, due to this we are becoming easily prone to
diseases our immunity power level is decreasing day-by-day. All of the
biggest technological inventions created by man - the airplane, the
automobile, the computer - says little about his intelligence, but speaks
volumes about his lazinessSome dirty minded people developed nuclear
weapons to kill their neighbor countries; this is really a serious topic. There
are many disadvantages of technology besides advantages. Pollution is on
the top of the list. It results in many diseases. Technology has affect our
society, children have no time of playing; they like to sit before their
laptops instead of playing outdoors games. They have no time for their
families.
Well, everything has its positive and negative points. Technology... is a queer
thing. It brings us great gifts with one hand, and it stabs us in the back
with the other. One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No
machine can do the work of one extraordinary man. People should not
misuse technology; they should take advantages from this to improve their
lives in a good manner and should not harm others.

!! FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS TO REACH YOUR GOALS!!
If you really want to succeed into your dreams, you have to know
what your goals are..!!!!!
Making your dream feel real, as if it's already done is very attractive to
the universe.
First; dream the dream. Next; investigate what you need.
Not in a needy way, but in a way that shows the universe that you are
interested. It makes the path clearer to you, and the excitement is
fueling the decision you have made.
So always try to follow your dreams to reach your goals ………!!!
“If you believe in yourself and your dream, the money and the means
you need will show up for you.”
“So do not feel limited by what you have or have not right now,
because as you move forward with your intention, all that you need will
be given to you.”
Don't do as many others and let your dream die even before it has
been born because you don't seem to have the resources you need
right now. They will be given to you when needed, so toss all other
thoughts out!
you have to ask and investigate because you want to get into the
energy vibration, to make it more real to you, to feel the excitement
and thrill about what is going to happen. The more you investigate and
connect with the energy the more excited you get.
It's only natural to investigate things in life. I mean if you want to
become a doctor, wouldn't you look up what schools you would
attend? If you are to buy a new car, wouldn't you look around and see
what kind you are going for before you bought it? If you want to have a
home based business, wouldn't you investigate and speak to others to
know more? Wouldn't you want to know more and learn about
whatever it is you would like to happen in your life?
You have to go for it in that sense, not to chase something, but to show
your natural interest in whatever it is that you want. Only people who
don't believe in themselves leave that part out, because they are too
afraid to look closer, so they turn away, blaming the economy or
something else instead.
A common false belief is to think we need the money first, and then we
can dream, while in fact it is the other way around. Always put your
dream first. Remember the

quote from the movie "The secret" by Michael Beckwith: "You can start with
nothing, and out of nothing and out of no way, a way will be made".
And so when you do get in the energy, all kinds of revelations and insights will
come to you and
reveal the next step for you to take. Your only job is to work on your alignment to
Spirit, to become one with God, stay open and flexible. Don't blindly chase some
invisible carrot, but instead enjoy the journey, have fun in the process and make
choices moment to moment based on what your heart is telling you.
The invisible intelligence within you knows the perfect way, and if you let it, it will
open up doors for you, lit the way and clear the path for you in wonderful ways
you couldn't even imagined before. Just get interested in the visions that are
being given to you all the time, dare to believe in them and show the universe
that you care about them by investing energy in them…
To really succeed into your dreams, you have to know what your
goals are!!. Keep your plan in mind at all times and motivate yourself time to
time ... Goals give you something to strive for,, they’ll be working too. Thus need
is only that you have to convert your aspirations into inspirations, encouraging
yourself to stay on task to achieve our own level of success. Once people know
their purpose, they’re going to do what it takes to fulfill it. It seems simple
enough, but it’s very effective and can lead to amazing results in a short period
of time. So ultimately it leads to achieve our destination or goal in a great
manner …..!!!!…

Ears for years
How nice it would be, if our ears had lids, like our eyes.
The pressure fluctuations in the air assume a subjective profile as they
reach our ears, they either sound as music or annoy as noise.
Whatever be the physics underlying noise generation, the onus is upon
us to keep sound within acceptable levels, whether the levels are
dictated by law or by acceptable social behavior.
The phenomenal increase in gadgetry available for making our lives
simpler and easier has resulted in
an increase in the cacophony around us. Some of the appliances for
daily household use such as vacuum cleaners, food blenders, hair
dryers, washing machines and dishwashers contribute to household
noise. Add to this the noise/sound from television, home theatres,
and other music systems; we have a perfect recipe for noise related
disaster.
After all, what can a little more noise do?
Prolonged exposure to excessive sound results in changes to heart rate
and blood pressure, increased output of adrenaline and modification to
hearing faculty (tinnitus).
High sounds increase the risk of
cardiovascular and hormonal changes. The delicate sensory cells of the
inner ear and cochlea are also prone to irreversible damage. Certain
individuals with prolonged noise exposure have reported difficulty in
hearing consonants that produce high frequency speech. Non-auditory
effects of noise include annoyance, sleep disturbance, lack of attention
and motivation, to name a few. With increase in population density, it is
natural for man-made noise to go up. What appeals to you – the
serene countryside, devoid of noise or the incessant rumble of the
neighborhood?
Sound can also kill.
Sounds surprising, but sadly is true! Read on…

Sound and Death
Easy and cheap availability of personal stereo systems and radios
that transmit continuous FM Channels have provided our youth with
a means of relaxation, a welcome shift from their routine, stress-filled
lives. However, it is necessary for the older generation to provide
proper counseling on the mode of usage of this medium of relaxation.
A young man’s life was cut short in its prime when he could not hear
the distress honking of an out-of-control vehicle at his rear. Reason?
The pair of earphones, the light weight messengers of death.
Let us educate our younger generation to be more responsible.
Frequency Modulation must not result in Free Misery.
What can we do?
Socio-religious activities, public processions, elections, all lend their
poisonous hands to the noise monster. Way back as 1971, the working
group meeting of WHO opined that ‘noise must be recognized as a
major threat to human well being’. Since then several legislations have
been drafted and promulgated around the world on acceptable levels
of noise for various equipment/activities. This is not enough if we, as a
people do not recognize the ill effects of noise. The common man, the
noise makers and the lawmakers all hold a stake in this.
Noise protection measures such as noise barriers, insulators must
be provided. Trees are natural
sound barriers. Plant more trees! Use acoustic control devices. Be
good neighbors. Keep your noise to yourself.
All is not hell with sound. Amidst the cacophony, music can act as a
perfume, an antidote to anxiety. Let us all embark on a mission to
lessen noise in our lives. Let us make our ears last for years!

MY MOTHER!!
The person, I like most is nobody other,
But it’s my sweet and inspiring mother.
Mother is one who is like a friend,
Because she shares joys and sorrows like a trend
She is one of the senders given by god,
But we can’t understand its lovable mode
She, who is my life’s lamp,
Gives me light of hope, when I am damp
She, who makes me feel,
Every time gives me a new zeal.
She, who cries,
When I cry
She gives me proud,
In difficult life ground
She, is who always stands by me,
When I am alone from all sides
That’s why…
The person, I like most is nobody other,
But it’s my sweet and inspiring mother ……………

ROLLER COASTER RIDES IN LIFE!!
My heart is alone seeking for a company,
but doesn't want to meander with the tyranny
of my destiny, Several milestones acted as my
path's stuffings,To me it has downed upon
with noval sense of living.......
Demand of time has left me anguished and
with utter pain i m languished...I t has
subdued all my life's rejoice and beefed up
my despair such that all my authenticity is
impaired.
All my joys are virtually capsizing,
My reckon over future is turning
agonizing....
All these shatterings have left my heart
smashed, I am unable 2 recall when dis
ignonimous storm had clashed, Many a
times, all this get on my nerves very tight, Yet
still, i manage 2 pull d wool over my eyes
An abrupt tremor has decimated the
landscape of my soul, My colourful life like
goldfinch has eroded from its roots as if a
thread from its stiff roll, Hardships of my lyf
are standing poles apart from my savouring
spores
I hope it will flirt out of my life as if a wave
from a sea shore.....!!
Fortunately, bad times irrevocably
accompanied with the pathbreaking
experiences in wide length, Strangely, they
acted as a bufferstock of eternal strength ,
Consequently, new horizons jumped in my
life 's so called "darker band"My heart then
got locked in with abundant friends..
That eerie pain was compensated with its
long lasting fruitful factors, Since then, i
came 2 know that life is a stage where we all
humans are actors, Confronting life with its
lavish nectors , Where happiness and
sorrows falls alternately in their sectors.....
