American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 “Stimulus Funds”

Title I, Part A Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

   To provide assistance to districts that have high concentrations of students from families that live in poverty. (Title I) Funds are to improve teaching and learning for those students who are “most” academically at risk. (Title I) To provide opportunities for educators to implement innovative strategies to improve teaching and learning for students with disabilities. (IDEA) 3

    Spend funds quickly in an effort to save and create jobs Improve student achievement through school improvement and reform Ensure transparency, reporting, and accountability Invest one-time ARRA funds thoughtfully 4

      To meet the educational needs of low-achieving students in high-poverty schools To close the achievement gap To distribute and target resources to schools with the greatest need.

To provide enriched and additional learning opportunities - before, during, and after school and during the summer To promote programs that are grounded in scientifically based research To purchase supplies and materials to support the Title I program 5

 Amend grant to reallocate funds from Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) to supplies for Smart boards and software to support literacy and math skills. 10
