Transcript MFL at NCBIS Options KS4:(I)GCSE

As this is an International school with a strong emphasis on
foreign language learning, students are strongly advised to
study either one or two foreign languages at GCSE. This is all
the more important since foreign language study is an integral
part of the IB Diploma, firmly required within group 2.
Assessment at Key Stage 4
Students taking GCSE courses work towards the Edexcel
GCSE syllabus
NB. Standard Arabic is with the IGCSE Cambridge Board.
Throughout Key Stage 4, students receive 4 periods of language per
week. Each period is 40 minutes in duration.
The Modern Foreign Languages Department does not offer a
coursework option as part of the GCSE course. Regular
assessments will take place over the two year course. These
include formal end of topic assessments, including all four skills,
as well as grammar tests.
