Many people dream of running their own business. They would like to become
entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship can be exiting. But running your own business is
difficult. This is often caused by poor planning, lack of business knowledge or
entrepreneurial characteristics, or choosing the wrong business.
 Name a business in the community and another similar that has gone out of
business. What do you think was the difference between the two business might
be?
Researchers have identified several characteristics that distinguish successful
entrepreneurs from those that fail.
 Successful entrepreneurs are independent.
 Successful entrepreneurs are self-confident.
 Successful entrepreneurs have determination and perseverance.
 Successful entrepreneurs are goal-oriented.
 Successful entrepreneurs have a need to achieve and to set high standards for
themselves.
 Successful entrepreneurs are creative.
 Successful entrepreneurs are able to act quickly.

Aptitude is the ability to learn a
particular kind of job. Different jobs
require different job attitudes.

In groups, suggest 3 possible jobs for
each item on the job attribute checklist.
