Goal
• “ILIAS
is an Integrated Infrastructure Initiative
that has pulled together all of Europe’s leading infrastructures in
Astroparticle Physics
to produce a focused, coherent and integrated project
to improve the existing infrastructures and their operation
as well as to organise and structure the scientific community to
prepare the best infrastructures for the future.”

Proposed structure for ILIAS-next
Andrea Giuliani
Integrated infrastructures  Underground laboratories
Basic philosophy
 Networks based on physics
• keep unity of each community
• favor relations between communities
• address fundamental topics in ApPEC roadmap
 Joint Research Activities based on technologies
• favor exchange of technologies among different but nearby research areas
• save resources by avoiding duplication of problems in different contexts
• stimulate R&D in key sectors of astroparticle physics

Summary
• ILIAS is indeed a very effective tool
• Questions ?
– coordination
– 2 I3’s in astroparticle physics ?
• No contradiction, let’s go ahead
