Victorian Era Fashion
In the XIX century women knew how to sew, and if they did not know
they could pay other women to sew for them their clothes.
During this time it was
thought that women's hair was
the most valued thing on
them. It was rarely cut,
usually only in severe illness.
Hairstyles were very complicated.
Hair was thick and long and worn in
many different styles. Hair was
parted down the middle, curled or
braided, then tied or pinned back. A
Victorian lady did not let her hair fall
loose around her shoulders.

Shoes began to be made with a right
foot and a left foot instead of being
interchangeable. Men often wore boots,
and it became okay for women to wear
them too. First they were made of
leather but since the 1850s they were
made of rubber.
