98% spam detection with Bayesian filtering
GFI MailEssentials’ Bayesian filtering technology uses advanced mathematical analysis to capture spam. It looks at the whole message, not just keywords and also considers the content of valid emails that you send (known as ‘ham’).
Bayesian filtering is widely acclaimed to be the best way to tackle spam because it: Looks at the whole message Adapts itself over time Sensitive/adaptive to the company/user Multilingual and international Hard to trick.
Downloads updates to spam profile database
GFI MailEssentials can download updates to the Bayesian spam profile database from the GFI site, ensuring that it recognizes the latest spam and spamming techniques.
GFI maintains the spam profile database by working with a number of spam collection organizations that continually supply spam samples.
The Bayesian spam profile can be updated automatically
Takes server-based approach to spam
To block spam effectively, you need a server-based anti-spam product as this: Eliminates the deployment and administration hassle involved with desktop based products Is cheaper to license Prevents spam from even entering your email infrastructure.
You only need to configure anti-spam rules at server level
GFI MailEssentials performs header checking
GFI MailEssentials analyzes the email header for spam practices. For example, the SMTP and MIME From: and To: fields in an email header often reveal spam mail. GFI MailEssentials also detects if the sender of the email has a valid domain.
GFI MailEssentials can also detect mails written in a foreign language
GFI MailEssentials supports blacklists & whitelists
Blacklists
– GFI MailEssentials checks if the mail sender is on a third party DNS blacklist (ORDB, SpamHaus, etc). You can also set up your own blacklist of domains and email addresses.
Whitelists
– Whitelists drastically reduce false positives (a problem inherent in anti-spam software). GFI MailEssentials automatically creates a whitelist for you on the basis of the emails your company has sent.
List approved email senders and blacklist unwanted email senders
Sort spam to users’ junk mail folder
Users can review mail flagged as spam easily from their ‘junk mail’ folder.
You can also choose to delete spam, move it to a folder, or forward the spam mail to a public email address or folder.
