Financial Aid initiatives Hispanic Center of Excellence: • Five-year, $3.4 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services to address disparities in minority health care. The UIC Hispanic Center of Excellence will use the grant to improve the shortage of Latino physicians and other health care professionals.

Financial Aid Office:

• HRSA grant ($450K/year) from the Department of Health and Human Services to support students from low income families.

Merit-Based and Need-Based Scholarships:

• Inaugural class of 6 Sweeney Scholars: • 3 students in Chicago • 3 students in Urbana 16
