is it working?
 Proposals has to be filled in due time : checked by the
commission
 Eligibility criteria must be respected : checked by the
commission
 Proposals are assigned to a sub-discipline by the applicant

is it working?
 The proposals are evaluated individually by a panel of experts
(number of experts varying depending on the program but
minimum 3) on the base of 4 main criteria (with several subcriteria) => individual evaluation report
 The panel of experts evaluates collectively the proposals =>
consensus report
 The different proposals are ranked on the base of the consensus
reports

Nice to have…
 Fit to the call : read carefully the call topic
 Be outstanding on the Scientific and Technology point of view but do not
underscore the other criteria
 Be credible
 Demonstrate an EU added value
 Respect the rules : read the applicant guide

Industrial vs academic evaluators :
 They share the criteria but the sensitivities could vary
 Academic evaluator are usually more sensitive to
 Quality of the research, advance versus the state of the art
 Dissemination in the scientific community
 Industrial evaluators are more concerned by:
 Practical use of the research results
 Intellectual property (patent and know-how)

