Working Definition Worship is telling God how good and great we think He is. It is complimenting God for who He is and the works He has done on our behalf from hearts that are awed by Him. Two Broad Ways We Worship God We can worship God with -our lives -our lips Worshiping with Our Lips • Psalm 78:23-24 - My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you—I, whom you have redeemed. My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long . . . • Psalm 63:3-5 says, Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. Shout to the Lord Shout to the Lord Psalm 150:3-5 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Instruments Worship involves . . . 1. . . . a fully engaged mind. 2. . . . our emotions. 3. . . . our bodies. 4. . . . non-musical elements. • Psalm 47:1 - Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. • Psalm 63:4 - I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. • Psalm 134:2 - Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord. • Psalm 95:6-7 - Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Psalm 149 Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. Nehemiah 9:5 Stand up and praise the Lord your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting. Testimonies, prayers, exclamations, etc. Heart of Worship When the music fades and all is stripped away and I simply come. Longing just to bring something that's of worth that will bless Your heart. Heart of Worship I'll bring You more than a song, for a song in itself is not what You have required. You search much deeper within, through the way things appear, You're looking into my heart.
