• ROSS – Resource Ordering & Status System
• READ – Resource Advisor
• THSP – Technical Specialist
• GACC – Geographic Area Coordination Center

IQCS Requirements
• Complete Starter Form:
– Must use legal name (also ROSS requirement)
– SSN and DOB only needed to establish profile.
– Each unit may request additional info.
• Locate the IQCS person for your unit.
• Provide copies of training certificates, pack test
results, any position taskbooks, previous
experience record (if any)

Know/secure your IQCS number.
READ vs. THSP
Currency: 5 years
Requirements:
– Physical:
• Arduous (on fire line – carded as FFT2 or higher)
• Light
– Annual Refresher Training (RT-130)
– Qualified vs. Trainee
More IQCS
• Certifying Official
– Will provide justification and certification of
position (trainee vs. qualified)
– Need to write “wilderness” on red card and sign
What Dispatch Will Need From You
• Request for User Account (to Self-Status)
• Legal Name – same as Driver’s License
(profile, travel arrangements)
• Current Contact Numbers: work, home, cell
• Preferred Jetport – Airport must handle
commercial air traffic
• May require copy of red card for record-keeping
purposes. Dispatch will need to document you
are wilderness qualified w/ appropriate fitness
rating.
ROSS Status Procedures
• Have Supervisory permission before self statusing as AVAILABLE!
• Minimum commitment: 14 days not including
travel, time off.
• Have proper gear/equipment ready and close
prior to statusing.
• Be in communication range.
ROSS Self Status
• Click on the button below to log into ROSS and
enter your availability for fire and other incidents.
Choose the appropriate availability area for you.
• IMT members should choose "local" for the
availability area. If you choose "GACC" or
"National",
you are making yourself available as a single
resource.
• Contact your dispatch center for username and
password. Remember to change your password
after you log on.
I Receive An Assignment Call from
Dispatch– What Do I Do Now?
• Resource has responsibility to inform
supervisor.
• Get clarification of assignment (where,
timeframes, rental approval, etc.)
• Provide dispatch travel information (air vs.
ground)
• Carry red card, Govt ID, DL
• Get copy of your Resource Order. Don’t travel
without it!!
