The Student Services Support Team
is:
Analogous to Curriculum Support Specialists (CSSs)
Academic Coaches
 The goal of the Student Services Support Team is to
provide support to school site Student Service
professionals much like academic coaches provide
support to subject area teachers
 Student Services Team is to Student Services as
Curriculum Support Specialists are to subject areas


The “SUPER7” Routine

Primarily elementary schools and some K-8 Centers receive services
Teams of two “SUPER7” Counselors (one team for each region: North,
Central, & South) visit schools for a three (3) week period with a
follow up revisit three weeks later
Schools are determined by Dr. Moore, Assistant Superintendent and the
Region Superintendents
There is an initial meeting with the school’s leadership team prior to a
“SUPER7” team being deployed
Each school is unique and has individual needs
The idea is to support, not point fingers, make demands, or
criticize…..we are there to help to the best of our abilities
The school’s leadership team is surveyed at the end of the deployment
period

The Creating Community Change Violence
Prevention Project (CCC/VP2) Grant
Was
a highly competitive grant that was
awarded to 22 school districts by the
United States Department of Education
(USDOE)
This grant will fund four 12 month School
Social Workers and one full-time School
Resource Officer (SRO)

The expected outcomes of the grant are as follows:
Enhance the district’s capacity to increase prevention and direct services
to students at-risk for or affected by violence at the four identified high
schools.
North Miami Senior High School
Miami Carol City Senior High School
Miami Central Senior High School
Miami Southridge Senior High School
Facilitate added preventative support to the K-8 Centers and Middle
Schools within the feeder patterns of the four identified high schools.
Reduce incidents of the following indicators at the identified schools:
Reduction in school arrests.
Reduction in bullying/harassment incidents.
Reduction in crisis incidents
Reduction in teen dating violence incidents.
Reduction in incidents of human trafficking.
The Future of Student Services Includes:
Region Superintendents and the OAT will identify
schools having a high counselor/student ratio and/or
in immediate need of additional Student Services
support at the elementary level.

Deployment Timeline

Length of deployment will depend on the need of the
school and will be determined by the Region and the
OAT. Generally, the period of deployment will be
three weeks.

Region/OAT meetings will occur every grading period,
and as needed, in order to ensure that services are
being maximized.

An online log will be maintained by the counselors
and reviewed regularly by the Region and/or the OAT
in order to monitor continuing needs or redeployment to another school site.

arrange a meeting with each school’s
administrator and counselor prior to the
team being deployed. Additional detailed
information will be provided to school site
personnel and protocols for Student
Services Support Team Counselors will be
discussed.
