My One-Stop hired a Disability Resource Coordinator. We send anyone
who sneezes, walks in on crutches, or who we otherwise suspect might
have a disability directly to this person for ALL employment related help.
This sure does keeps our DRC busy, but it’s great to know that our OneStop now has the capacity to serve job seekers with disabilities!
Does the One-Stop described above really have “the
capacity to serve job seekers with disabilities”?
Absolutely!
Definitely Not!
Um, maybe…..
Just as long as your Disability
Resource Coordinator never
gets sick, goes on vacation,
or expires prematurely due to
the pressure of having to
serve one out of every five
people who walks in the
door!

CORRECT!!!
With partnership-building a major component of the DEI (and the DPN
initiative), Disability Resource Coordinators (DRCs) engage in significant
outreach and resource mapping to promote cross-agency collaboration
and more effective leveraging of public and private resources across
multiple workforce, disability and generic service systems. While DRCs
may occasionally meet one-on-one with customers who experience any
number of challenges, it is ultimately the DRC’s role to help customers to
navigate through the One-Stop system and access all of the valuable tools
provided by workforce professionals, as well as to assist with the
coordination of multiple resources needed to facilitate each individual
customer’s career pathway.
