child has written. Please write them
back.
General Overview

All homework has purpose = 5 -10% of final grade
Any assignment that comes in after 1 week of being
assigned will be counted as 50%.
Your child will receive a Missing Work Report / No Missing
Work ½ sheet, every Friday
Weekly Assignment Log – Filled out daily
Graded Work – Home on Tuesday’s
All final grades are rounded up
Math, Science & SS have a BIG question we are
striving to answer. We will try to contain most work
inside the notebook.
– Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
– Spending more time with the understanding
– Will result in less homework – Homework should be able
to be done mostly independently.
– The rigor will increase – Student thinking & reasoning

We are utilizing the AR program where your child will take comprehension quizzes on the books they
read. The goal is to achieve a minimum of 5 AR points the first quarter (to increase to 10 points in the
subsequent quarters) so your child can move from planet to planet while practicing his/her reading
comprehension skills. Progress will be noted during our quarterly Awards Assemblies. Lack of
progress will be reflected on your child’s Reading Effort grade.

• We are going over 500+ years of history
• Listen and engage during readings, discussions, videos,
etc…
• Group projects coupled with Technology; as often as
possible
• Given a test review sheet 1 week prior to test
– May use all HW, chapter reviews, timelines with every test
• Utilizing Interactive Journals.

•A copy of the Spectrum & Book Report form.
•You should also have your IXL Math sheet to log onto the system.
•Reteach/Enrich information/sign-up sheet
•An information sheet for you to keep throughout the school year.
•A set of sheets that provide a glimpse of your child’s learning style.
•AIMS results from last year.
