Decision Codes
• Revised decision codes introduced for session 2010-11
• Some omissions and anomalies identified
• Amendments have been made to codes, guidance and
texts for communications to students
• Current code set will be used for forthcoming January
Boards.
• Further changes are required for June Boards of
Examiners resulting from regulation changes and reintroduction of compulsory reassessment diet
Compulsory Reassessment Diet
• A compulsory reassessment diet has been introduced that
will take place in the summer period
• A student has one reassessment opportunity for a module
therefore carrying any failed credit will be difficult
• Regulation B6.2 has been amended:
“Exceptionally a student enrolled on a programme of study
leading to an award of the University listed in Regulations A4.1a)
and e) may be permitted to progress to the next stage of study
carrying a failure in no more than 20 credits.”
• Under normal circumstances students will not be permitted
to carry failed credit.
Issues & Implications
• What about students with mitigating circumstances?
• What about placement students who progress before
placement assessment can be completed?
• What about “Occurrence B” students who progress before
the reassessment opportunity?
• Some further additions and amendments will be made to
codes, guidance and communications.
• Student Affairs and Quality Enhancement intend to deliver
School specific training for administrative staff on the
revised codes nearer the May/ June Boards of Examiners.
