Services
 The Department of Community Services is the
Local government Unit responsible for the
development of behavioral health service
plans for Sullivan county.
 The Department provides :
 funding for community based behavioral health
services.
 provides direct services in mental health, alcoholism
and drug abuse to all residents of Sullivan County.
 Services are available to individuals of all age
groups, without regard to the severity of their
disability. All services are confidential.

State OMH Programs
 Mobile Mental Health – is a free, confidential
, crisis mental health adult service. The team
is composed of experienced mental health
professionals who can go anywhere into the
community 24 hours a day 7 days a week

 Rockland Psychiatric Center (RPC)
provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support
to adults 18 and older with serious mental
illness.

 The Monticello Mental Health Center is an
outpatient clinic, of the Rockland Psychiatric
Center, which provides mental health services to
seriously mentally ill persons age 18 and over
who reside in Sullivan County.
 To be eligible for admission to the clinic there
must clear evidence of a psychiatric disorder as a
primary diagnosis.

management, groups( wellness/self management,
life management skills, co-occuring disorders),

 Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center -
RCPC is a psychiatric hospital exclusively for
children and adolescents RCPC has a wide
variety of outpatient services, including schoolbased aftercare programs, day treatment
programs, and clinics. These programs are fully
integrated with the inpatient service, enabling
RCPC to provide a full continuum of care to the
children it serves.

 OMH Regional Office - New York State has a large,
multi-faceted mental health system that serves more
than 500,000 individuals each year. The Office of
Mental Health (OMH) operates psychiatric centers
across the State, and also regulates, certifies and
oversees more than 2,500 programs, which are
operated by local governments and nonprofit
agencies. These programs include various inpatient
and outpatient programs, emergency, community
support, residential and family care programs. For

Friends and Advocates for Mental Health
(FAMH)
Alliance For The Mentally Ill of Sullivan County
Friends and Advocates for Mental Health is the
Sullivan County affiliate of the National Alliance for
the Mentally Ill (NAMI). Primarily a family support
and advocacy organization, FAMH strives to
expand opportunities and improve the quality of life
for all people with mental illness. FAMH provides
mutual support for families and social, recreational
and educational opportunities for consumers of
mental health services. We also strive through public
education, to eradicate the stigma associated with mental
illness.

Stepping Stones
 A member-run Clubhouse, based on the Fountain
House model of psychiatric rehabilitation. Stepping
Stones is a collaborative effort of Rockland
Psychiatric Center, Friends and Advocates for Mental
Health, and Rehabilitation Support Services and is
located at 14 Pelton Street Monticello. Stepping
Stones is open Monday - Friday from 9 - 4:30 as a
drop-in center, providing meals and scheduled
