BRIEF BACKGROUND OF INTERACT CLUB OF STFX • •   Founded on 18 th August 2006 One of the youngest Interact Club’s of Kolkata • •  Some of the completed projects included – Regular donation of food articles, clothes etc Visits to the elderly in old age homes Traffic Management around school premises Spread awareness about the earth hour and about the ill effects of tobacco.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF FRANCO FIESTA

 The first edition of the fest was conducted in November 2006 wherein some 10 schools participated.

Since the first edition, the Interact Club is holding the festival successfully every year with heartwarming participation from many schools  We welcome you to the 5 th to be as exciting as ever.

ABOUT FRANCO FIESTA 2010

 A three day Inter-school festival organized at the school premises, G.D. Birla Sabhaghar and other off sites (Club Circle proposed).

 1 st day to include all off site events  2 nd day to comprise of off stage events  3 rd day to comprise of all on stage events

OFF SITE EVENTS (DAY 1)

 Number of participants – 1 per School  General accepted rules for Pool apply  Format (Knockout/League etc) to be decided as per participation and registration  Venue and timing to be given on the 2 nd meeting Rep’

 Number of players – 1 per School  Generally rules of bowling apply  Every school shall play one full game and the highest scorers win.

 Venue and timing to be given on the 2 nd meeting Rep’

 Number of players – 2 (Doubles)  Format to be decided as per participation and registration.  General Rules of TT apply

 Number of participants – 1 per school  Top scorers win  Venue and timing to be given on the 2 nd meeting Rep’

OFF STAGE EVENTS (DAY 2)

STREET SOCCER          Number of participant/player – 5 participants (including goal keeper) + 2 substitutes.

Size of the ball – 3.

Mini Goal post will be set up.

Normal football rules (i.e. offside, corners).

Over waist height ball contact will lead to foul.

No spikes, only white school keds are allowed. Participants have to wear school jerseys.

Each halves – 7 minutes. Break – 2 minutes During tie breaker, penalty shoot outs or ‘sudden death’ will take place. Each team – 3 shots.

Format of rapid chess will be followed.

No. of participant from each school – 1 Each matches – 10 minutes (judgement will be done basis of points).

1 minute will be given for 6 moves, 3 moves for each team POINTS TABLE QUEEN – 9 ROOK – 5 BISHOP – 3 KNIGHT – 3 PAWN - 1

CARROM  No. of groups from each school – 1  Participants – 2  Knock out match – 1 board game  No. of finalists will be 2 (29 points, without red cover)

NON GAS COOKING        No. of participants – 2 Time limit – 45 minutes No. of dishes – 3 (1 drink + 1 snack + 1 sweet dish) All ingredients and materials to be brought by the participants from respective schools. No gas products to be used like chips etc.

No non-veg items are allowed. Strictly veg.

No pre cooked or pre cut items to be brought for home. If brought, school will be disqualified.

COLLAGE          No. of participant – 1 Time limit – 1 hour Participants have to bring their own material. (uncut) Topics will be given on spot Chart will be provided by the host school.

Size of the collage – Half of a standard chart paper.

No colours are allowed.

Scissors, marble papers are not allowed.

Use of magazines and newspaper will be allowed.

POSTER PAINTING  No. of participant – 1  Time limit – 1 hour  Paper will be provided by the host school.

 Topics will be given on spot.

 Slogan is a must for poster.

 Any medium of colour can be used.

 All materials are to be brought by the participants.

 Size of the poster – Full chart paper

POWER POINT PRESENTATION        5 minutes presentation + 1 minute 2 persons team Topics to be given on the 2 nd reps meet Laptop, projector and screen to be provided by school PPT to be brought on a USB drive. One copy to be written on a CD and to be submitted at the time of registration No links to be embedded and there shall be no usage of the internet during the presentation Bibliography must

TURN COAT  No. of participant – 1 from each school.

 Time – 1 min + 1 min – For the motion  1 min + 1 min – Against the motion  Topic will be given one hour before the event starts.

 The participant can access the library and internet for preparation.

EXTEMPORE  No. of participant- 1 from each school.

 2 minutes for preparation.

 Time – 1 min + 1 min  Topics will be given on spot.

COMPUTER GAMING  GAME : COUNTER STRIKE  No. of participant – 3  2 rounds between 2 teams, Each round – 3 minutes  The cheat codes, foot step should be off.

 If any team uses cheat codes, the school shall be disqualified

ON STAGE EVENTS (DAY 3)

WESTERN DANCE       No. of participants- Minimum 6 ; Maximum 10 Time limit – 6+2 minutes Props are allowed.

Vulgarity (clothes/lyrics) in any form is not allowed.

2 audio format CD should be brought by the respective schools. One CD should be submitted at the registration desk during registration. Another cd should be kept with the respective school representative. Time limit should not exceed, otherwise the school will be disqualified.

WESTERN BAND             No. of participants- Minimum 4 ; Maximum 7 Time limit- 8+2 minutes Vulgarity in any form is not allowed, if seen then it will lead to disqualification.

No vernacular language is allowed.

Self-composition is allowed.

Drum set will be provided by the hosting school.

Only western songs are allowed.

It has to be live performance.

No background score, karaoke or DJ is allowed.

Participants have to wear their school uniforms.

All musical instruments, except drum-set, have to be brought by the participating school.

Set up time is maximum 2 minutes.

STREET PLAY           No. of participants- Minimum 6 ; Maximum 10 Time limit- 10+2 minutes (open stage to open stage) Participants should bring their own costume, props and make ups.

2 audio format cd should be brought by the respective schools. One CD should be submitted at the registration desk during registration. Another CD should be kept with the respective school representative Drama should be broadly based on social issues.

Basic props/set like table, chair, cot will be provided by the host school. No barrier of language- Hindi, Bengali or English can be used.

No other regional language can be used.

No recorded dialogues allowed, recorded background score allowed. Limited background score through synthesiser allowed.

EASTERN DUET DANCE       No. of participants- 2 Time limit- 4+1 minutes Participants should bring their own costume, props and make ups.

Props are allowed.

2 audio format CD should be brought by the respective schools. One CD should be submitted at the registration desk during registration. Another CD should be kept with the respective school representative Performance should be based on semi-classical form.

FASHION SHOW  Theme- Unity in Diversity  No. of participants- 8+2 members  Time limit- 6+2 minutes  2 audio format CD should be brought by the respective schools. One CD should be submitted at the registration desk during registration. Another CD should be kept with the respective school representative

QUIZ  Prelims round to be held first .

 It can be written or oral round decided by the quiz master.

 Any number of teams of 3 from all schools may take part in prelims – however only 1 team from each school will qualify for the final round.

 8 teams will go for the final round.

3 MINUTES TO FAME  No. of participants from each school- 1  Time limit- 2+1 minutes  Your act is to explained and approved before performance at the 2 nd Rep’s meeting. No dangerous acts like use of sharp objects, fire, stunts etc shall be allowed.

CONCLUSION

GENERAL RULES

    All Students are to attend the festival in School Uniform unless in possession of guest pass.

All rules, regulations and timings are subjected to review in the final reps meeting or due to accentuating circumstances on event day itself.

Maintaining decorum at all events is a must to ensure smooth operations. Trouble makers or perceived troubles makers will be expelled and their schools may be disqualified at the discretion of the host school. Vulgarity in any form will lead to disqualification. This includes costumes, lyrics, gestures, comments etc. The Judge’s word shall be final.

FINAL REP’S MEETING

 Tentatively on the **(date)**. Same place, Same time.

 Detailed itinerary will be communicated.

 Any changes in rules will be communicated on this day.

 Passes will be distributed to the schools on this day.

 Attendance is compulsory.
