Objective
To learn about the affect of temperature
on the diffusion of dye molecules in a
liquid medium. Heat energy excites molecules
and increases the kinetics of molecular
motion. In this exercise participants used ice-
cold water, boiling water and normal tap
water and recorded the time it took for the
complete diffusion of the dye molecules in
water under the above physical conditions..
Method


Two dye; saffranin and
methylene blue were
used in the experiment.
100 ul of the dye were
gently dropped in three
100 ml transparent
plastic cup containing
ice water, boiling water
and tap water.
Method
(Continued)

Time taken for equal
distribution of the dye
molecules across the
medium was recorded
for each observation.

Conclusion
 The
Dye methylen blue responded
significantly in the three physical
conditions.
 Rate of diffusion was the least at ice
water.
 Fastest diffusion was observed in hot
water.
