GEOPAK Update
• VDOT began its implementation of Bentley
Systems GEOPAK suite of Civil Engineering
Software in April 2002
• Three year contract *– License
– Initial Setup and Customization
– Training and Materials
– Consulting Services
• VDOT currently has 199 projects being
designed with GEOPAK

Implementation Webpage
• Fill out Training Nomination form and fax back
to AES Helpdesk
• When there are enough requests for a
particular class, the class is scheduled and
notices are emailed.
License
• Active Project designated to be designed with
GEOPAK
• Complete form LD-893
– Form can be found on L&D website, or contact AES
Helpdesk
– When completing the LD-893 form
• Project number or contract type
• Begin and end dates
• Computer hours for justification
• Request should include sub-contractors information
and their hours
• GEOPAK license request requires Mac address and
network computer name

• How to get Software
– Software License request must be
approved by VDOT
*– CD with software will be mailed
– Installation instructions are included
on CD
– Resource files (D&C Manager,
Criteria, etc.) can be downloaded
from Webpage.

Software Conversion
• Conversion of IGrds Projects to GEOPAK
– Refer to IIM-LD-232
– All projects with*an advertisement for
construction date after January 1,
2007 will be designed with GEOPAK.
– Contact your VDOT project manager
to see if your project will need to be
converted from IGrds to GEOPAK
Falcon WebSuite
Falcon WebSuite
• Falcon is VDOT’s CADD File Management
System
• The system is now Web enabled
• Advertised Electronic Plans have been
available to contractors through the Falcon
WebSuite since June of 2003
• Consultants will have the ability to
electronically send files to Project Managers
using Falcon WebSuite.
– No more CD’s
– No more transfers using the FTP server

DGNConform Server
• DGN Conform Server Software is now
being used for all VDOT Road Design
projects.
DGNConform Server
• DGN Conform Server is a software
package that will give users the ability to
check their design files for adherence to
VDOT Cadd Standards. It checks the level
structure, text height & width, text font, line
style, and line weight.
DGNConform Server
• The software works very much like a
spell checker as it will identify an
incorrect item, allow the user to fix it or
delete it as well as create reports on
what actions were or were not taken.
• It can also be run in a batch mode for
multiple files to be checked and a
report generated over night.

• You may purchase the software by
contacting Steve Simms of Corporate
Montage (software manufacturer) @
(713)266-1522.
• Purchase of the software is not
required, however MicroStation files
will be scanned at VDOT and returned
to the consultant if Standards are not
met.
DGNConform Server
• The necessary dictionary files that are
used by the software for checking
purposes, are available on our ftp site
in the dgnconform folder under the
download folder.
• These dictionary files may be updated
frequently, so you may need to
monitor the web site for notification
that changes have been made.
