ASA -The man with Foot Trouble
“And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of
his reign was diseased in his feet, until
his disease was exceeding great: yet in
his disease he sought not to the LORD,
but to the physicians.” II Chron. 16:12
3rd King of Judah - reigned 41 years
He had foot trouble !!
Physical oddities:
 Man
with 6 fingers and 6 toes
 Absalom
– Long hair
 Bartimaeus
- Blind
 Moses
– Speech impediment
 Goliath
- Giant

Asa: Followed Good Advice when Young
II Chronicles 15:2 “And he went out to
meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye
me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin;
The LORD is with you, while ye be with
him; and if ye seek him, he will be found
of you; but if ye forsake him, he will
forsake you.”
Seek God and you will find him
Isaiah 55:6 ¶ “Seek ye the LORD
while he may be found, call ye upon
him while he is near:”
Jer. 10: 23 “O LORD, I know that the
way of man is not in himself: it is not in
man that walketh to direct his steps.”
Acts 17:27 “That they should seek the
Lord, if haply they might feel after him,
and find him, though he be not far from
every one of us:”
Asa: Followed Good Advice when Young
II Chronicles 15:7 “Be ye strong
therefore, and let not your hands be
weak: for your work shall be rewarded.”
Must not have
A Faint Spirit

Calling
Seek him with our Strength
2 Chron. 15:3 “Now for a long season

Why ?
“My people are destroyed for
lack of knowledge:” Hosea 4:6
Asa took the advice of the Prophet of God
Asa: Brought a Spiritual Revival
“And when Asa heard these words, and
the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he
took courage,...” II Chron. 15:8a
To do God’s will we must have
the courage of our convictions
First step is Courage
Asa: Brought a Spiritual Revival
“and put away the abominable idols out of
all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and
out of the cities” II Chron. 15:8b

Second Step – Get Rid of Wrong

When a person obeys God
It requires worship
Third Step – Worship God

2 Chron. 15:12 “And they entered into a
covenant to seek the LORD God of their
fathers with all their heart and with all their
soul;”
Rom.6:18 – servants of
righteousness
Fourth Step – Covenant with God
Asa: Brought a Spiritual Revival
First step is Courage
Second Step – Get Rid of Wrong
Third Step – Worship God
Fourth Step – Covenant with God
Asa: Dethroned His Own Mother
2 Chron. 15:16 “And also concerning
Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he
removed her from being queen,
because she had made an idol in a
grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and
stamped it, and burnt it at the brook
Kidron.”
He did not condone evil in his family
We must have stronger spiritual ties
than family ties !
“love less”
We cannot approve evil in our family.
“If any man come to me, and hate not his
father, and mother, and wife, and children,
and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his
own life also, he cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:26
Asa: Relied on man rather than God
His only weakness
Showed up late in life
Temptations come at all ages
1 Peter 5:8 “be vigilant” = watchful
1 Cor. 10:12 “take heed lest he fall”
Asa: Relied on man rather than God
He relied on man in war

Asa sought help from Benhadad the
king of Syria
Prophet Hanani told Asa – put in jail

He relied on man in sickness

He was a good king but not perfect
He had spiritual troubles also
3 John 2 “Beloved, I wish above all
things that thou mayest prosper and be
in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Many fleshly problems cannot be helped
But all spiritual problems can be helped
We can seek Him and He can be found.
