Would

Pompeii have acted
differently if they had
known that the volcano had
been about to erupt? How
would they have acted?
Adventures in Writing
The people of Pompeii were unprepared for an
emergency, and they were in big trouble! Imagine that
you work for an Emergency Response Team, and you
live in a town near a dangerous volcano. You receive a
warning that you have one day to get the townspeople
safely out before the volcano erupts. Write a paragraph
that explains your emergency plan. First, write an
introductory sentence explaining how you will tell
everyone about the emergency plan. Next, write a plan,
with at least three steps, that explains how people can
safely leave the town before the volcano erupts. Make
sure your ideas are in complete sentences.
