Post-Reading Analysis Prompt
Orpheus was the son of Apollo and Calliope. He married
Eurydice who soon died. He followed her into Hades
and begged Pluto to have her back. He said Orpheus
could have her back if he left Hades trusting that she
was right behind him. If he turned around to check that
she was, Eurydice would spend eternity in Hades, and
Orpheus couldn’t have her back. Of course, Orpheus
turned around to check on Eurydice so she died again,
and he lived unhappily ever after.
