• A resume is the bait that gets you in the door for an
interview.
• no interview = no chance of getting the
job!
Importance of a Resume
• Employers generally
spend 10 seconds
scanning a single
resume.
Resume First Impression
• First contact with the
employer.
• Resume tells
employer what type
of employee you are
and the work you will
produce.
• Critical to describe
qualifications clearly

• Chronological
– Highlights your work experience
• Functional
– Highlights skills and accomplishments rather than
work experience.

– Duration of employment (month and year)
– Brief description of duties and
responsibilities
