ARTICLE 1 SECTION 27 of the PENNSYLVANIA CONSTITUTION
The Environmental Rights Amendment- (Adopted May 18, 1971)
“The people have a right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the
natural, scenic, historic, and esthetic values of the environment. Pennsylvania’s
public natural resources are the common property of all the people, including
generations yet to come. As trustee of these resources, the Commonwealth shall
conserve and maintain them for the benefit of all of the people.
1. If there’s water on or near your site, and you need to deal
with it, call us.
2. Common sense should prevail in your work. It may not
be the most cost effective, but can most often prevent
problems and visits from folks you don’t want to see.
3. You are all a necessary part of the economy and growth
of Wayne County. The regulatory agencies (Wayne CD,
DEP, EPA, Fish and Boat) are not here to stop or inhibit
work but to assist in Environmentally Sound practices.
4. The District and the resources we provide are available
in our office, or through fax and mail.
5. Voluntary Compliance is what we try to obtain. We can
work together and protect our natural resources.
“Financial and other support for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania
Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. through a grant from the Pennsylvania
Department of Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water
Act, administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
