 2006 - National unemployment rate is at a 6 year low of 4.6%
- 1999 4.2%
 2010 National unemployment rate is at a 30 year high of 10%,
it’s highest since 1982 10.8%
 2006 Houston’s unemployment rate averaged 5.1% for 2006,
our lowest since 2001 when it was just 4.7%
 2010 Houston’s unemployment rate peaked at 8.4% in 2009,
the highest since 1986 at 10.2% when Houston lost 20% of its
job base
