The Resurrection
Of The Dead
2
• The Bible clearly teaches the
general resurrection of the dead
• Many today deny the
resurrection of the dead
3
Acts 26:8
• Why should it be thought a thing
incredible with you, that God
should raise the dead?
4
I. In The Old Testament
5
Job. 19:25-27
• For I know that my redeemer liveth, and
that he shall stand at the latter day
upon the earth: And though after my
skin worms destroy this body, yet in my
flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see
for myself, and mine eyes shall behold,
and not another; though my reins be
consumed within me.
6
Ps. 17:15
• As for me, I will behold thy face in
righteousness: I shall be satisfied,
when I awake, with thy likeness
7
Is. 26:19
• Thy dead men shall live, together
with my dead body shall they
arise. Awake and sing, ye that
dwell in dust: for thy dew is as
the dew of herbs, and the earth
shall cast out the dead.
8
Daniel 12:2
• And many of them that sleep in
the dust of the earth shall awake,
some to everlasting life, and
some to shame and everlasting
contempt.
9
Hosea 13:14
• I will ransom them from the
power of the grave; I will redeem
them from death: O death, I will
be thy plagues; O grave, I will be
thy destruction: repentance shall
be hid from mine eyes.

II. In The New Testament
11
Jn. 5:28-29
• Marvel not at this: for the hour is
coming, in the which all that are in
the graves shall hear his voice, And
shall come forth; they that have
done good, unto the resurrection of
life; and they that have done evil,
unto the resurrection of damnation.
12
Acts 17:32
• And when they heard of the
resurrection of the dead, some
mocked: and others said, We will
hear thee again of this matter.
13
Acts 26:8
• Why should it be thought a thing
incredible with you, that God
should raise the dead?
14
1 Th. 4:16
• For the Lord himself shall
descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of
God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first:
15
2 Cor. 5:1-2
• For we know that if our earthly
house of this tabernacle were
dissolved, we have a building of
God, an house not made with
hands, eternal in the heavens. For in
this we groan, earnestly desiring to
be clothed upon with our house
which is from heaven:
16
1 Cor. 15:51 – we will all be changed
• Behold, I shew you a mystery; We
shall not all sleep, but we shall all
be changed,
1 Cor. 15:44 – not a natural but a
spiritual body
• It is sown a natural body; it is
raised a spiritual body. There is a
natural body, and there is a
spiritual body.
17
1 Cor. 15: 52, 54 – and incorruptible
body
18
• In a moment, in the twinkling of
an eye, at the last trump: for the
trumpet shall sound, and the
dead shall be raised
incorruptible, and we shall be
changed.
19
• So when this corruptible shall
have put on incorruption, and
this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be
brought to pass the saying that is
written, Death is swallowed up in
victory.
1 Cor. 15:43 – a glorious body
20
• It is sown in dishonour; it is raised
in glory: it is sown in weakness; it
is raised in power:
21
1 Jn. 3:2 – we shall be like Christ
• Beloved, now are we the sons of
God, and it doth not yet appear
what we shall be: but we know
that, when he shall appear, we
shall be like him; for we shall see
him as he is.
22
Phil. 3:20-21
• For our conversation is in heaven;
from whence also we look for the
Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who
shall change our vile body, that it
may be fashioned like unto his
glorious body, according to the
working whereby he is able even to
subdue all things unto himself.
23
Jn. 14:1-3
• Let not your heart be troubled: ye
believe in God, believe also in me.In my
Father's house are many mansions: if it
were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you.And if I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come
again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also
