PLAN COOP- If want to apply for credit and
grade (maximun allowable 6 credits):
Once accepted into a program must:

Request the coop practice application package from
the coop office of the college of engineering in
stefani-219 (ask for Mariel)

2. Interview with the COOP coordinator Dr. Carlos
Muñoz ([email protected]; room # b-030). The
coordinator must give his written authorization for
your registration in the course.
3. Register for the course in the dept (Biol 4998). Make
sure that you are registered for the amount of credits
agreed with the coordinator.

4. Go
to the program
"Stay in touch with the Coordinator (Dr. C. A. Muñoz) by
entering the WebCT site al least once a week for the entire
period of the practice".

5. Provide your mentor with the forms that he will fill out at
the end of the program where he will assess your
performance as well as give you a grade.
6. Upon returning to RUM fill out the undergraduate
research assessment form included in the package AS
WELL AS
THE "RESUMEN DEL TRABAJO REALIZADO" (ABSTRACT)
and return to Dr. Carlos Munoz
7. Look for forums to present your results (ex. scientific
meetings)

"Minority
Undergraduate Research Fellowships (MURF)" California
Institute of Technology (Caltech).. This experience will provide excellent
preparation for students interested in subsequently pursuing a Ph.D. MURF
students are welcomed into Caltech’s community of researchers and scholars. Students
carry out individual research projects under the mentorship of Caltech faculty or JPL
technical staff over an 8 to 10 week summer period. MURF students will work on a
day-to-day basis with graduate student/postdoctoral scholar co-mentors.. MURF
students may participate in a wealth of programs and activities coordinated by the
Student-Faculty Programs office. Students receive a payment of $600/week plus
housing and travel allowance.

•Stanford Summer Research Program in Biomedical Sciences
. The Stanford Summer Research Program in Biomedical Sciences/Amgen Scholars
Program is a fully funded, eight week, residential internship program. It offers
undergraduates who want to prepare for and enter Ph.D. programs in the sciences a
unique opportunity for advanced research experience within a world class university. Our
tentative program dates for 2008 are June 22 - August 16. Students participating in the
Stanford Summer Research Program are fully funded during their stay. Stanford will
provide students with summer housing, meals, and travel to and from the summer
research program. Additionally, all SSRP participants will receive a $3,200 stipend..
