W-1 Press Release
• Why and when would you use a press
release?
– It gives local media information that is useful,
accurate, and interesting.
Paper – 8 ½ x 11
Margins – 1”
Font – 12, Times New Roman
Word Wrapping
• What is word wrapping?
– When you type continuously until the end of
the paragraph. Then you enter.

• The Skateboard Logo is found in the IMMS

– First thing you do when you insert a
clipart/graphic
• Double click on the graphic
• Set the text wrapping to tight
– Then it can be moved around
• Must put Skateboard, Inc. with graphic
Bold, Centering
• Bold, Italicize, Underline
– Home ribbon, font group, choose the correct
icon
• Centering, right and left align
– Home ribbon, paragraph group, choose the
correct icon
Double Spacing
• To double space your document
– Home ribbon
– Under the paragraph group
– Click on line spacing and choose 2

Indenting a Paragraph
• By default Office has indentions set every 5
spaces
• To indent a paragraph hit tab

• Paragraph group on home ribbon

• They want a page 2 right aligned
– Put your cursor in front of the last paragraph
which should be on page 2. Hit enter until you
get a blank line. Click on the right align & type
Page 2.
• After the last paragraph press enter, click on
the center icon, type ###
W-2 Letterhead
• A letterhead is a sheet of stationery that
contains the company’s information on it.
• All letterheads are created in the header and
footer of the page.
• Go to insert, text group, header&footer
Symbols
• To insert symbols into a document
– Insert, Symbols 
– Go to wingding's, click on a symbol, insert,
close
Identification
• Since we use the header you are to click in
the body and put
• Your name

W-3 Envelope
• An envelope is used to send a letter and/or
other documents.
• It contains the company’s name and address
in the top left corner.
• The recipient’s address is in the center of
the envelope, LEFT ALIGNED.
• The standard size of a business envelope is
a No. 10 (9.5 x 4.125).

– If you do not see the correct size go to more
paper sizes
W-4 Labels
• Labels are used for many things.
– Envelopes, sales items, folders
• To create a label
– Mailings ribbon, labels, options
• Options
– Choose the name of the label (Avery US Letter)
– Find the number of the style of the label
– Click ok, then new document
W-5 Business Memo
• What is a memo?
– An interoffice correspondence.
– They are short and to the point.
– They have NO salutation or closing

• Margins
– 1” top and side margins
– The to, from, date, subject is double spaced and left aligned.
– Body is single spaced and double spaced between paragraphs

• Superscript -is when something is raised
higher

• Highlight the number or letter

– Icon for each (or open the font group and
choose)
W-6 Bullet List
• To set margins
– Page layout, margins
• To sort
– Highlight your list
– On the home ribbon
– Paragraph group, choose the AZ icon

• Help words stand out by placing a symbol
in front of the word
• Highlight the words

– Find the bullet icon
• Default will be a circle
• If you want a different one drop down the arrow and
choose

Format Painter
• First select the item you want all other items
to be like!!!

– Found on the home ribbon, clipart group
– Double click on the icon
– Paint the words that need to be changed
W-7 Two Column List
• Select the text
– Page layout ribbon
– Page setup group
– Click the arrow by the columns icon to go to
more groups
– The columns dialog box will appear.
– Hint: be sure to choose apply the columns to
selected text only

Merge Cells
• To add another row to a table go to the last
cell and press tab
• To merge cells highlight the cells and then
go to layout and click merge cell
Table Properties
• To get to table properties
– Right click on the table
– Choose table properties
• This is where you change
cell sizes, alignments,
etc.
OR
Shading/Borders on a Table
• Double click on the table
– Go to table tools
– You will see borders and also shading
W-9 Waiver and Release Form
To create a dash line
• Home ribbon
• Click on the font group
• Choose a dash line
from the underline style
• Then click ok
• Using the shift and underline key go across
you entire page.
• Hint the underline key
is located next to the 0 key
