Implications of Math

Successful completion of any of the Math 11 course options will
satisfy the requirement for graduation

HOWEVER: Depending on which post-secondary school you
might attend and what program you might enter into, different
math courses are needed

If you plan to go into trades, most programs will accept
A&W Math 11 as appropriate, BUT there are some
EXCEPTIONS!

For now, stay in the highest level of math you can be successful
at (Keep your options open)

If you choose to take A&W Math 9, you will have to continue on
with A&W Math in future years (unless you later complete Math
9 Principles or Math 10 F&P in summer)
MATHEMATICS
The new math curriculum includes 3 available pathways for students. The three pathways available
are: Apprenticeship and Workplace Mathematics, Foundations of Mathematics, and Pre-Calculus. At
the grade 10 level, a common Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-Calculus course is the starting
point for both the Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-Calculus pathways. When choosing a
pathway, students should consider their interests, both current and future. Students and parents are
encouraged to research the admission requirements for post-secondary programs of study as they
vary by institution and by year.
