Why should you care what Wärtsilä is
We are a big company (18 000 + employees) and we are hiring even in
this market situation
Our IM (Information Management) department is 200+ people, which is a
size of a medium-to-large IT company in the scale of Finland

What do we want to do
In computing, master data management (MDM) comprises a set of processes and tools that consistently defines and
manages the non-transactional data entities of an organization (also called reference data). MDM has the objective of
providing processes for collecting, aggregating, matching, consolidating, quality-assuring, persisting and distributing such
data throughout an organization to ensure consistency and control in the ongoing maintenance and application use of this
information.
The term recalls the concept of a master file from an earlier computing era. MDM is similar to, and some would say the
same as, virtual or federated database management.

What do you get out of it
• A customer who understands what they need
• A customer who understands the requirements and practicalities of the
course
• Valuable Sharepoint experience (there is a lot of demand for Sharepoint
expertise in the job market)
• A glimpse to the true nature of ERP systems (a plus when applying for
a job in most big companies)
• A leg between the door to Wärtsilä (or to the many consultant
companies which are providing services to us )
