• Over 30 meetings/presentations throughout County – Agencies – Citizen Groups – Civic Associations – Chambers of Commerce – Private Sector – Economic Development Groups

• What we are hearing: – Interest and strong opinions about community mobility – Acknowledgement of personal and community transportation needs and challenge – Unaware of the magnitude of dollars already invested and funding needs for transportation – Appreciative of engagement and listening process – Open-minded to solutions that are transparent, equitable, and yield immediate positive results

• • • • Six focus groups held in November 2014 Each approximately 90 minutes Total of 68 residents that were demographically diverse, by gender, race, and political party affiliation Provided baseline for community engagement and discussion

• What they told us: – Involve citizens in plan design – Funding and revenue shortfalls are not generally understood – Belief that there is a great deal of transportation dollars due to extensive construction on state roads – Construction fatigue • Implications of construction to congestion

• What they told us (cont): – Near-universal reliance on the car solely – Pedestrian and bicycle improvements were not as high of a priority as roadway capacity – Cautious of tax increase, but open to the positive aspects • Timeframe and length of tax increase is important – Questioned developers paying

Technical Update

• Validating Projects – Met with staff from County, Cities, HART, THEA, and FDOT – Gathering data on project types and specific project details • Project descriptions, typical sections, limits and length, preservation needed, and enhancements • Local project costs and phases – Cross referencing projects with jurisdiction CIP plans, FDOT draft work program, and LRTP

Technical Update

• Developing consistent and defensible cost assumptions and methodology – Consistent project definitions – Consistent cycle of maintenance by project type/jurisdiction – Standardized project costs and continued management and operations – Finance and Funding (Matching cost estimates to assumed year of implementation, inflationary rates) – Criteria for operations cost estimates by project type/jurisdiction – Analyzing and understanding funding match assumptions and source limitations

• • • • Developing a consistent messaging, strategy, and communication tools Website design – – Interactive engagement opportunities Social media presence Project material templates Community Engagement Process – Scheduling 28 public meetings throughout the County, including four telephone town hall meetings
