WHY DO WE HAVE PROCEDURES?
Procedures are the ways we do things. To do things correctly, we have to follow procedures such as: To place a phone call, we need to enter numbers in the right order.
To mail a letter, we need to write down the correct address and zip code.
So, to be successful in learning, we need to follow some simple procedures.
ENTERING THE CLASSROOM: Please enter quietly.
Hang up your coat and backpack.
Read Morning Message.
Review the schedule.
ENTERING THE CLASSROOM: Complete “Start Up” Checklist.
Place notes from home on dog.
Place last night’s homework in bins on top of long counter.
Begin morning work.

THE CLASSROOM MANAGER: *Manager’s Chair
RIGHT AFTER START UP: Put completed work in the “Morning Work” basket. Unfinished work may be completed during Snack/Recess.
Wait quietly for the next direction.
DURING INSTRUCTION: Listen to the teacher with your full attention.
No pencil sharpening, talking, or whispering.
Ask permission to speak by raising your hand .
Ask questions related to the subject. Other questions can be asked later.
WHILE YOU ARE WORKING: Make sure you read or listen to directions and that you understand them.
If you are unsure, ask for help from students sitting near you. If they also don’t understand, ask the teacher to explain.
If you are asked for help, be polite, kind, and offer your best without giving away the answer.
Talking to each other should be no louder than a whisper.
Use your time wisely. your work on time.
Put forth your best effort to finish
IF THE TEACHER or
RAISES HER HAND RINGS THE BELL:
Stop whatever you are doing at that moment. (Freeze!) Face the teacher and wait silently.
Notify any classmates who haven’t noticed that the teacher has raised her hand.
No talking or whispering.
All of your attention should be given to the teacher.
AFTER YOU ARE DONE: Put your name on your paper!
Check your work and the directions once more to see if you missed anything or did something incorrectly.
If the assignment is to be turned in, do so.
Read quietly or work on unfinished assignments. Students are not allowed to sit and do nothing. You must be working until the end of class.
DISMISSAL: Clean your work area.

WHEN YOU ARE LATE: Enter quietly Place tardy note on our desk.
Have a seat and quietly take out your materials.
WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT: Get the assignments from your classmate and the worksheets from the mail box. Do the work at home.
If you missed a test because of your excused absence, a time will be arranged to make up the test.

ABOUT FOOD ALLERGIES: Some kids are severely allergic to certain foods. Sometimes, if they eat, touch, or breathe a tiny amount of the food they’re allergic to, they can become very ill . . . even die! That’s why . . .
FOOD-ALLERGIC KIDS NEED ALL OF US TO HELP KEEP THEM SAFE!
Here are some of the ways YOU can help: 1. Never take food allergies lightly.
2. Don’t share your food with food-allergic friends.
3. Wash hands after eating. 4. Ask what your friends are allergic to and help them avoid it.
SYMPTOMS If an allergic schoolmate becomes ill, get help immediately!
Here are some symptoms of an allergic reaction: •Vomiting •Swelling of the face and lips •Difficulty breathing •Coughing, sneezing, and watery eyes •Skin that’s bumpy, red, and itchy If an allergic schoolmate is showing these signs, inform the teacher or person in charge immediately. Your quickness can save a life!
