1. As part of the College Readiness Forum (CRF), Reedley College’s English Faculty are requesting your assistance to
increase student college success in our English courses. We understand improving college readiness and success of our
students is a huge task, especially under current fiscal concerns, time limitations and new regulations impacting both K12 and the community colleges; therefore, we want to collaborate as effectively and efficiently as possible. We are also
aware that only 14% of students come to us ready for college-level writing and that only 24% of our English 125
students (one course below college-level) are successful in completing freshman composition within one year of taking
English 125 (based on California Community College Basic Skills Progress Tracker). We would like to collaborate with
you about strategies to improve these numbers. In an effort to have better understanding of your curriculum, the
English faculty at Reedley College are interested in meeting with you to discuss the Common Core, your experiences
implementing the ERWC (if your campus is participating), and general writing instruction strategies. Depending on
your responses below, we will arrange a time to meet regarding these issues. Thank you for your time. Are you
interested in collaborating with faculty from Reedley College?

As a Literacy Coach for Selma High and in light of our collaboration sessions at Selma, this is a very
opportune time for discussion with Reedley College. Thank you for initiating this much needed process to
support our student needs.
