As an Aviation Rescue Swimmer (AIRR) you are the backbone of the Navy’s Search and Rescue Team.

You must be in top physical condition and willing to risk your life to save the life of another in both combat and peacetime environments.

Actively conducting humanitarian efforts around the world, these brave men and women rescued and helped thousands during recent catastrophes such as:

Hurricane Katrina: Over 1500 rescued from

flooded neighborhoods, lifted of roof tops and saved from raging waters

Hurricane relief in Haiti: delivering supplies

and providing medical assistance to those in need

Indonesia tsunami: after rescuing hundreds

of stranded people, they assisted with medical relief, supplies and basic necessities to survive

California wildfires: Integral part of

saving thousands of lives and homes by extinguishing recent wildfires with their Helicopter firefighting capabilities

Nevada floods: rescued hundreds from

flooded neighborhoods

Drug Interdiction flight off the coast of

South America that stopped and assisted in the capture of the largest drug trafficking bust in American history.

AVIATION RESCUE SWIMMER (AIRR) MISSION Search and rescue is only one of many missions that aviation rescue swimmers execute, they serve as the helicopter crew chief, radar operator, rescue swimmer and door gunner on missions such as: • Overland / Open ocean search and rescue • Medical evacuation • Drug interdiction • Disaster relief • Combat search and rescue • Support local fire agencies with airborne firefighting capabilities • Special Warfare / Special Operation forces support • Anti-submarine warfare • The technical experts in both military and civilian search and rescue missions worldwide.

AVIATION RESCUE SWIMMER (AIRR) TRAINING • As an Aviation Rescue Swimmer you may have the opportunity to be trained as one of the most skilled and diverse rescuers in the world to include advanced training in: – Mountain search and rescue – Open ocean search and rescue – Combat search and rescue – Swift water rescue – Shipboard medical evacuations – Visit, board, search and seizures (VBSS) – Advanced medical procedures

AVIATION RESCUE SWIMMER (AIRR) TRAINING

Naval Aircrew Candidate School Pensacola, FL

• Includes 4 weeks in various aviation skills and physiology.

SERE School

• Course is designed to provide Code of Conduct training to personnel at high risk of capture. 2 weeks

Aviation Rescue Swimmer School Pensacola, FL

• Includes 5 weeks in lifesaving techniques, aquatic and physical conditioning.

Naval Aircrew (AW) ‘A’ School Pensacola, FL

• Approximately 4 to 6 months of training in basic flight duties.

Helicopter Fleet Replacement Squadron

• Approximately 6 to 7 months of training in skills and techniques required for performance as a Multi Mission Helicopter Aircrewman.

Advanced Search and Rescue Training

• Upon arrival to your ultimate duty station, Rescue Swimmers continue to train towards full qualification (approx 12 - 18 months) while having the opportunity to attend advanced schools, dependent upon duty station selection, such as but not limited to: Helicopter Basic / Master Rappel Course Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Weapons School Advanced Rescue Swimmer School And other high adrenaline type courses

AVIATION RESCUE SWIMMER (AIRR) LOCATIONS • Duty Station Locations: Hawaii California Jacksonville, FL Japan Maine Washington Pensacola, FL Nevada Virginia Maryland Key West, FL Guam • Deployable Helicopter Squadrons • Coastal and Inland Station SAR units • Various training commands

BENEFITS

Rewarding career for both men and women.

• Enlistment bonus of $XX,000 and advancement to E-2 upon graduation on Recruit Training - $ 2000 for elevated PST scores in Recruit Training.

- Advancement to E-4 upon graduation from Rescue Swimmer School and AW ‘A’ School.

• Reenlistment bonus up to $45,000.

• Specialty pays up to $825 per month.
